Every year, on the first Monday of May, all eyes are on New York City as designers, celebrities, and influencers arrive for The Met Gala.
The Met Gala is one of the most anticipated events of the year for fashion and beauty lovers across the world, as we get to see all of the creative looks that are being showcased.
This year, we were absolutely delighted when we heard that Celebrity Makeup Artist, Katey Denno, would be using Cheekbone Beauty on Indigenous model, Quannah Rose Chasinghorse. If you're wondering - yes, we did freak out!!
We received the WONDERFUL news on Friday, April 28th, and shipped a package to Katey right away! We were SO excited... until we got a notification on Sunday that our package was stuck at the Canada/USA border and wouldn't arrive until after the Met Gala.
By 10 PM on Sunday night, Jenn (Founder & CEO), knew what she had to do. With very little sleep, she made the journey to New York City to bring Cheekbone Beauty to Katey.
About Katey Denno
Katey Denno is a Celebrity MUA, who is big on green beauty and advocates for using more natural colour cosmetics and skincare in the beauty industry. She has worked with celebrities such as Mandy Moore, Cara Delevingne, Amanda Seyfried, Mindy Kaling, and of course, Quannah Chasinghorse.
We have worked with Katey in the past, and she has shared such wonderful feedback with us. She genuinely loves our brand and uses our products. We have also received lots of great feedback from her clients who have tried our products.
Luckily, Met Gala Monday happened to fall on a beautiful, sunny day and Jenn got to Katey's hotel with just enough time to hand-deliver the package of Cheekbone Beauty goodies!
Katey had to get to Quannah's hotel, so she invited Jenn along for the ride.
In the car, Jenn got to share the entire Cheekbone Beauty brand story with Katey, which was such a beautiful moment for the two to share.
When they arrived at the Carlyle Hotel where Quannah was staying, Katey had to head upstairs and start glamming!
Unfortunately, Jenn didn't get to see Quannah but they have met in the past and she was lovely. Before coming back home, Jenn got her steps in around Central Park and stopped for a green juice!
Did you know that most Met Gala attendees stay at either The Carlyle or The Mark Hotel? Both are within walking distance to Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Quannah's Look by Katey Denno:
♡ Set an even canvas on the lids with a little powder from both the Earth Palette and the Infinite Palette (this step also helps hold your eyeliner in place).
♡ Use your Empower Eyeliner in Raven Black to line the top and bottom lashes, and then smudge it out to create a smokey winged eye. Add another layer of Raven Black over the lash line again for added drama. Finish off the eye look with lots of the Uplift Mascara in Black on both top and bottom lashes (if you wear strip lashes like Quannah, add a layer onto them too!)
♡ Use the Illuminating Primer Stick in Starlight (with the fingers-to-product then fingers-to-skin method) to set the scene for a major 'lit from within' glow, focusing on applying it on the high planes of the face and collarbone.
♡ Use the Unify Multi-Pencil as your base - foundation, concealer, and contour. Katey used three different shades to even out Quannah's skin tone and further sculpt her incredible bone structure.
None of this would be possible without our incredibly loyal community and we are so grateful.
Hopefully, you'll see us at the next Met Gala Monday in 2024!
